Agenda For 2018 Safari Trip To Kenya
With 3 Game Parks
Masai Mara, East Tsavo and West Tsavo

Sunday Nov 4th  to Tuesday Nov 6th DAY ONE through THREE: Boston to Nairobi

Leave Boston Logan Airport and Travel to Nairobi, Kenya. (18-24 hours travel time.  Kenya is 8 hours ahead of Boston's EST.)

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and after clearing with Immigration and Customs formalities, proceed to the International arrivals where you will be met by representatives of Maniago Safaris and transferred to Tamarind Tree Hotel.
Tamarind Tree Hotel Carnivore Nairobi is located within the spacious Carnivore grounds and its iconic Carnivore Restaurant.  Each of the 160 en-suite guest rooms and suites have been exquisitely designed using modern fittings whilst expressing authentic African Culture. All rooms are air-conditioned and benefit from Wi-Fi connectivity, a 43-inch flat-screen television with international satellite channels; complimentary in-room tea and coffee facilities and sound-proofed windows to ensure you have a peaceful night’s sleep. The hotel has a number of rooms especially equipped for the physically challenged.

Wednesday Nov 7th DAY FOUR: Nairobi/Masai Mara National Reserve (Approx. 6 hours drive)
After breakfast, begin your safari, drive west to Masai Mara. Stop briefly at the escarpment to enjoy sweeping views of the Great Rift Valley below. Continue with your safari by driving  south across the floor of the Great Rift Valley and the Loita Plains to the world famous Maasai Mara National Reserve arriving at Mara Ngenche Safari Camp in time for lunch.

Mara Ngenche Safari Camp is located on the banks of the Mara and Talek Rivers, in the heart of the Masai Mara. The spacious guest tents are all en-suite with either four poster King Size Bed or Two Queen Size bed with a view on to the Mara River or Talek River equipped with all the amenities. The en-suite bath-rooms are fitted with double wash basins, hot and cold running water, a flushing toilet, bathtubs, outside showers with a view and a plunge pool. The camps dining and lounge area have an open-sided design with views of the river where pods of hippo and crocodiles can often be seen relaxing on the banks and also Free WIFI.
After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Thursday Nov 8th  DAY FIVE:  Masai Mara National Reserve 
Spend the day game viewing in the Mara. Your driver with plan your day with you, which can be as active or as leisurely as you wish.  You may decide to spend the whole day in the reserve with picnic lunches or enjoy a morning game drive and return to the camp for a leisurely lunch and time to relax before going out game viewing again in the cooler hours of the afternoon.

Masai Mara is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves.  Acacia dotted plains, tree-lined rivers and woodlands are abundant with wildlife and an array of birdlife.  Game viewing is spectacular year round; you may see a pride of lions stalking their prey, observe a herd of elephant and their fascinating social structure, or see pods of hippo wallowing in the rivers.  The great wildebeest migration is one of nature’s wonders; an estimated two million animals migrate in a year-round pattern through Tanzania and Kenya, following the rain.

On this day you will also visit a traditional Maasai village to learn more about their ancient culture and traditions, which they still practice today. Meet the elders of the village, the warriors and the women and children who love to entertain with song and dance.

Overnight at Mara Ngenche Safari Camp (Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner)

  • Optional activity you can do in the Mara, at an extra cost, include a Hot Air Balloon Safari which ends with a champagne breakfast served in the middle of the bush

Friday Nov 9th DAY SIX: MASAI MARA TO NAROBI
Breakfast at the camp.
Depart for a morning game viewing drive in the reserve.
Lunch at the camp.

After lunch transfer to the airstrip for a scheduled flight to Wilson Airport (1445 hrs / 1615hrs) to  Wilson Airport. On arrival you will be met and transferred back to Tamarind Tree Hotel.

Overnight at Tamarind Tree Hotel  (Meals).

OPTION: DINNER AT THE FAMOUS CARNIVORE RESTAURANT


Carnivore Restaurant is set in an attractive garden setting and, as the name suggests, is a meat eater’s paradise. A variety of meat which may include ostrich, crocodile and camel are roasted over a huge charcoal pit and then carved at your table, served with delicious salads and sauces. A variety of vegetarian dishes are also available.  The desserts are to die for, not forgetting the locally brewed Kenyan coffee or tea to crown it all.


Saturday Nov 10th DAY SEVEN:  NAIROBI/TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK (Approx 5 hours)
After breakfast continue your safari by driving to Tsavo West National Park. Arrive at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge in time for lunch.

This classic stone-built lodge overlooks its own water hole, which is visited by a variety of animals including elephants, buffalos and various plains game. The lodge features a thatched central dining area and a rock-built bar with a viewing terrace looking directly down to the waterhole.  Rooms are en-suite and have verandas, some overlooking the water hole and some the Chyulu Hills, which are one of the world’s youngest volcanic ranges.

Spend the early afternoon relaxing before your game viewing drive in the park.

During your game viewing in the park you will also visit Mzima Springs, a set of crystal-clear ponds fed by the melting waters of Mount Kilimanjaro, at which hippo can be viewed from a submerged observation post.  Tsavo West boasts a variety of beautiful habitats. Game viewing in the park may take you through open plains, savannah bush, semi desert scrub, lush forests and palm thickets or to the lava-flows of ‘Shetani.’

Sunday Nov 11th DAY EIGHT: TSAVO WEST/TSAVO EAST NATIONAL PARK (Approx 3.5 hrs)

After breakfast drive to Tsavo East National Park. Enjoy a game viewing drive en-route to Voi Wildlife Lodge arriving at the lodge in time for lunch. 
Nestled in the heart of elephant country, Voi Wildlife Lodge is located on a 25-acre site on the boundary of Tsavo East National Park. The lodge has been designed to blend into the surrounding environment and boasts a natural waterhole which often attracts big game like elephant, lion, cheetah, buffalo as well as a rich variety of birdlife. Accommodating up to 300 guests, all rooms have en-suite bathrooms and are furnished in African decor that is replicated throughout the lodge. Facilities at the lodge include a restaurant, bar, Spa and Gym, children’s outdoor recreation area, swimming pool and jacuzzi, two badminton courts, a volleyball court as well as table tennis and a pool table.
After lunch, there is time to relax before your afternoon game viewing drive in the park until sunset.
The Joint mass of Tsavo West and Tsavo East National Parks form one of the largest National park in the world and Tsavo East is the larger of the two. The park offers a vast and untapped arena of arid bush which is washed by the azure, emerald and meandering Galana River and patrolled by some of the largest elephant herds in Kenya.

Overnight at Voi Wildlife Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Monday Nov 12th  DAY NINE: TSAVO EAST/MOMBASA NORTH COAST (Approx .03 hrs)

After breakfast drive to Mombasa. 
Lunch on own arrangement.
Arrive at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa and check in. (This hotel subject to change)

One of East Africa's finest resorts, Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa is located on one of the longest beach fronts at the Kenyan Coast. All rooms and suites have been tastefully furnished and have spectacular ocean, pool or garden views. Guests can choose from three superb themed restaurants and a choice of three bars including the vibrant beachside nightclub Coco's. Four outdoor swimming pools offer a choice of waterslides and diving boards, complemented by flood lit tennis courts and a fully equipped state of the art gym ensures that the guest is fully engaged. A PADI diving centre and a host of water sports are also available

Tuesday - Wednesday Nov 13th-14th  DAY TEN & ELEVEN: MOMBASA NORTH COAST


Spend the next two days at leisure to relax at the beach and enjoy the facilities at the hotel or take optional excursions available at an extra cost.
Lunch on own arrangement.
Dinner will be at the hotel.

Overnight at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa (Meals: Breakfast & dinner)

Thursday Nov 15th  DAY TWELVE: MOMBASA/NAIROBI/BOSTON
(Remember Kenya is 8 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. You will leave ahead of EST while in Kenya. The time difference will even out when you return to Boston.)

Breakfast at Whitesands.
You will be transferred to the airport in hotel vehicle. 
Check in at Kenya Airways counter .
Depart on Kenya Airways scheduled flight for Nairobi
Arrive at Jomo kenyatta International Airport where you will connect to your  international  departure  flight.
